MARTIN – On Monday evening last, Mrs. Martin, wife of Capt. E. B. Martin of this place. Her death was unexpected and under distressing circumstances, her husband being absent in St. Louis. When we came to San Marcos in June 1873, we found Mrs. Martin boarding at the Lyell House, and she has resided in the town ever since. She was very well known in the community, and had many warm friends. She processed many fine traits of character, and was especially noted for her social gifts and kind and charitable deeds in behalf of the afflicted and needy. There is universal sympathy for the bereaved husband and family in the hour of dire sorrow and bereavement.
