Uncle of Linda & Lisa Ragosta & Maria Carroll. Grand uncle of Kelly Carroll. Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street (cor. of Rt 114, Exit 25A from Rt 128) SALEM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem."
Gene became a proficient guitarist and musician. He began his career as one of the original members of The G-Clefs. 4 brothers from Roxbury and Gene who hit the national charts in the summer of 1956 with "Ka-Ding-Dong". They didn't return until 5 years later with "I Understand (Just How You Feel)" that went to #9, and then "A Girl Has To Know" which went to #81 in 1962. While Gene played with the band they toured England. They have since traveed the world for nearly 50 years and are still performing and recording. During Gene's 40+ year career he played bass guitar with other such notable musical groups at The Great Rubber Band, Tommy Makem & the Makem Brothers, and Gene Burn & Company.
