Hank & Chuck went to Houston High School in Houston, MN. Hank and Chuck joined the Navy in 1944 before graduation at age 17 but were discharged a few weeks later because they were color blind. The Army drafted them in June 1946. They served together as MP's in Vienna, Austria with the occcupation forces.
Chuck transferred to the US Air Force and retired as a SMgt. Hank was sent to Korea. His first night of combat was New Years Eve 1949 [sic], by 1 Mar 1950 [sic] he was back in the US with 7 pieces of schrapnel in his spine and spent the rest of his life as a parapalegic in a wheel chair.
He died at the age of 58 in the Vets Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. Hank had married Rose Marie Lindquist in 1947. They had a son Henry Fredrich (Butch) Hanson in 1949 at Fort Ord, CA. She divorced Hank when he came back from Korea.
He met his second wife, Elizabeth (Liz)Kean at the Vets Hospital. She was a vet who was injured in a car accident and was also a parapalegic. They married 7 Dec 1953 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Liz died in 1998 and both are at rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
