John Basham was born in Hammond Indiana and Attended Hammond Tech High School. After Graduation he entered and served in the United States Marine Corps and upon completion of his military service in California he moved back to Northwest Indiana where he was employed at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company which later became Jones & Laughlin Steel Company and then L.T.V. Steel. He Married Bonnie L. Tate of Hammond Indiana and had 4 Children Tina, Troy, Tony and Tracy. John was a member of the American Legion and was briefly Commander of post 238 Roselawn, Indiana. John succumbed to Metastatic Adeno-carcinoma of the throat and passed away on February 28, 1993 while resting in his home with his family at his side.
