He married Willene SELBY in Washington, D.C. in 1944 where she was working during the War. The couple moved to Abilene during 1945, where Mrs. Pounds became a mother and homemaker and Henry was a long time employee of the Texas State Highway Department.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Willis Henry POUNDS (1947 - 1948). As of the date of his wife, Willene's, death in 2007, their survivors include: two sons, Tommy Pounds of Abilene and Bobby Pounds (from his first marriage) of Columbus, Georgia; three daughters, Mary Gilbreth and husband Jerry of Abilene, Betty Pounds of Abilene and Nancy Hooper of Abilene; thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, among others.
