Arthur W. Pearsall NORFOLK
Arthur W. Pearsall, 80, passed away Sept. 9, 2005, at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Mr. Pearsall was born March 16, 1925, in Oxford, Mich., a son of the late Gehiel and Ethel Irene James Pearsall. Art served in the Navy for 21 years and retired as a chief petty officer. After he retired from the Navy, he started his own business, Art’s Radio and TV Service. He was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, a past Grand Knight of Council No. 4632, Knights of Columbus, Past Faithful Navigator of the Fr. Nicholas J. Hobets Assembly and Past Charter Grand Knight of Council No. 9056, Knights of Columbus. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America, the Submarine Veterans of World War II, Underage Veterans of World War II and PEST (Parking Enforcement Specialist Team) for Virginia Beach. Art leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Hazel Pearsall; his children, Dolores Anne Kalafus and husband John of Connecticut, Stanley Mark Pearsall and wife Rita of Maryland, Stephen James Pearsall of New Hampshire, Janet Marie Smallwood and husband Tom of Virginia and Richard Arthur Pearsall of Virginia; 11 grandchildren, Christina, Laura, Gregory, Jeremy, Tara, Jennifer, Michael, Jessie, Whitney, Tony and Ashley; and seven great-grandsons. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Crematory, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, with a Rosary service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded by the Navy Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made in Art’s name to Knights of Columbus Council No. 9056, 5351 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462 or Submarine Veterans of World War II Association.
