William Joseph Owens is the son of Griffin Owens b. 07/25/1786 in Barnwell, S.C. d.06/02/1852 in Dunbarton, Barnwell, S.C. and Letitia Foreman b. 1812 d. 1861 in Barnwell, S.C. They married on July 18,1825 in Barnwell County, S.C. Griffin and Letitia had the following children who were all born in Barnwell County, S.C. : Benjamin Owens b. abt. 1826; Georganna Owens b. abt.1827; David Owens b. abt. 1829; William Joseph Owens b. 07/22/1832; Jane Owens b. abt. 1834; and John Littleton Owens b. 09/15/1841. William Joseph Owens married Harriett Hassetline Green on Nov. 02, 1853 in Barnwell County, S.C. They moved to Florida shortly afterwards and settled in the area that is now the Osceola National Forest. William and Harriett had the following children who were all born in Columbia County, FL.: Walter Owens (birth unknown); Georgian Owens b.01/27/1855; William Thomas Owens b. 05/14/1856; Charles B. Owens b. 05/13/1858;Jane E.
