Gordon and Marie Deakin passed away together in an auto accident on Sunday, October 30, 2005.

Gordon was born in Bingham Canyon to Robert Price and Agnes Maud Householder Deakin. He graduated from Bingham High School in Copperton, Utah in 1937.

He married Marie Clements in the Salt Lake Temple in 1941, they enjoyed 64 years together.

Gordon loved helping and serving others, willingly doing so without pause. Although he'd say, "I'm a Jack of All trades, a master of none", he was handy and loved to fix it if it was broken. Hearts were a bit of a challenge, but many were comforted by his wisdom and support.

He served in various callings for the LDS church in his great life, including the bishopric, stake clerk and many years with his wife in the Jordan River temple and as missionaries in 1985-86 in Nauvoo, Illinois. They loved Nauvoo and were able to return there for a visit four months before the accident.

He retired in 1979 from Kennecott Copper after 40 loyal years in a variety of positions, ending his years with "the paint gang".

He is survived by his adult children: Donna Porter, Vauna (Dan) Allinson, Eddie (Barbara) Deakin, Susan (Jim) Ertmann, Joleen (Dick) Stauffer, Denise (Ralph) Crane, Nadine (Tom) Sharpe, Loralyn (Dave) Biesinger, and Blake Robinson; 35 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and sister, Irene Randall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter, Janice (Jan) Robinson, son-in-law Rulon Porter and two grandchildren.

Dad and Mom will always be remembered for their many hours of caring and love of service.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 4, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Willow Creek 3rd Ward, 2400 E. Alta Canyon Dr. (8610 So.) Friends called Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. and one hour prior to service.

We miss his laughter, his humor, his love, his endurance, his love of God and all mankind. And the contentment found in their home, a sampling of heaven.
