He was married to Mary Cedelle Jones (1806 - 1880) and they had a child named Rev. John Wesley Boland (1824 - 1906).

David and family moved from South Caroline to Georgia by 1824 as John Wesley was born in Gwinnett Co. GA. The family also lived in Coweta, Fayette and Muscogee counties GA. He was a drawer in the last 1832 or sixth Land Lottery for 160 acre grant in the original Cherokee Co. GA. David Boland was a farmer and also a Ferryman on the Chattahoochee River at Columbus, GA.

David, his wife and two youngest children left Georgia for Bremond in Robertson Co. TX. One of their sons, William J. Boland was already there.

Died after 1860 in Texas. Burial unknown.
