James Alfred Butler of Iron City, TN was born July 23, 1933 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the son of the late Harvey Lucas and Louanna Jane Daniels Butler. He was united in marriage to Lillian Caperton on September 15, 1950.

Mr. Butler was a farmer and retired after 36 years in 1995 at Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company in Lawrenceburg, TN. He was a member and deacon of the Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Iron City, Tennessee. Mr. Butler departed this life on Friday, December 9, 2011 at his home at the age of 78 Years, 4 Months, 16 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Butler of Iron City, TN; sons, Jerry Butler and wife, Sandra of Iron City, TN, Donnie Butler and wife, Judy of New Johnsonville, TN, Mark Butler and wife, Jenny of Waynesboro, TN, Keith Butler and wife, Holly of Iron City, TN; a daughter, Joyce A. Sherrill and husband, Johnny of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Jeremy, Ben, Chad, Cory, Cale, Clint, Tyler, Chaydyn, and Drake Butler, Jana Rinehart, Sabrina Pevahouse, Rhonda Sherrill, Brittany Littleton; great-grandchildren, Maicee, Ethan, Maddox, Ryder, and Case Butler, Trayce and Danton Rinehart, Katie, Kelby, and Kameron Thompson, Brayden Littleton, Tori Lee, Toby Dildine; step-great-grandchildren, Craig and Caitlyn Pevahouse; a grt-grt-grandchild, Gracie Haddock; brothers, J. D. Butler of Iron City, TN, Doris Butler of Lawrenceburg, TN; sisters, Nadine Adams, Corene Gambrell, and Colene Willis all of Lawrenceburg, TN, Inell Short of Iron City, TN, Robbie Smith of Columbia, TN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Braxton Keith Butler, Matthew Kyle Butler; sisters, Viva Wallace, Pauline Stooksberry, Louise Wallace.

Services will be Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, TN, with James T. Turnbow officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Ben, Cory, Tyler, Jeremy, Cale, Clint, and Chad Butler and Kelby Thompson with Ethan Butler, Trayce Rinehart, and Kameron Thompson as honorary pallbearers.
