"Those we love do not go away
They walk beside us everyday
Unseen, unheard, but always near.
Still loved, still missed
And ever dear."

Leonard was born at the farm of Imer and Edna Sorum on January 26th, 1935. He attended the country schools in the district; South Buffalo Lake and Ripley School, before taking his high school in Mirror.

He was quite young when he purchased his first half section and became a farmer. He farmed with his dad and uncle Hilmer until their retirement, and later when his daughter, Debbie and husband Joe decided to farm that Leonard was again farming with help from family. They began the process of taking over the farming operation about ten years ago. Leonard's comment to the kids was, "Don't forget me, I need something to do."

Sports were a very important part of his life. He played some hockey but his love was baseball and he was good at it. He played with the Great bend ball club when the kids were little. Many Weekends were filled with tournaments somewhere. Curling became the sport he liked because it was done during the long winters and he was good at curling as well. We saw most of the provinces in Canada in the spring when the Canadian Order of Foresters would have their dominion play-offs. Leonard usually won the Province of Alberta in order to go to the dominion play-offs. When he no longer could play slow pitch with the seniors, golf took over, but the winter sport continued to be curling.

The grandchildren soon took over a big part of his attention and love. First, the four wonderful boys, Debbie and Joe blessed him with. Then recently Dale and Krystal, living in the same yard, presented us with two very special little girls that loved to visit Grandpa regularly.

Leonard had a very wonderful life, it was just a little too short. We love and miss you.
