FULLERTON, Frank D., 89, of Moundsville, W.Va., died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 18, 1924, in McMechen, W.Va., a son to the late George H. and Wilma J. (Marple) Fullerton. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Moundsville. He was retired from the Bayer Corporation and was formerly employed by the B & O Railroad. He was a basketball coach, scout leader, and served as an "Airdale" in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Frank loved his family and one of his favorite hobbies was radio control airplanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha (Wetzel) Fullerton, two brothers, Richard and Glen Fullerton, and one sister, Nancy Vavrock.
He is survived by two sons, David (Penny) Fullerton of Glen Dale, W.Va., and Craig (Connie) Fullerton of Moundsville; three grandchildren, Jason Fullerton of Glen Dale, Chad (Nicole) Fullerton of Bethlehem, W.Va., and Wendy (Justin) Smith of Burgettstown, Pa.; and two great granddaughters, Jayden and Cameron Fullerton.
Friends will be received on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, W.Va. where funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Wesley Howshare officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at McMechen Cemetery.
