Age 80, of Millcreek Twp. died suddenly while wintering in Laughlin, Nev. He was the son of the late, Floyd W. and Martha H. Volk Alward. John served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed at and retired from AMSCO in 1989 after 34 years of service. He had been a founding member of Our Lady of Peace RC Church since 1956. He enjoyed gardening, gambling, traveling, and was a cable TV news junkie.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Alward.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Marie Hoehn Alward, since September 1952; his children, Edward J. Alward (Karen), Douglas M. Alward (Suki), John Alward, Jr. (Kim), Timothy Lee Alward (Lori), Debra Ann Bayle (Tom); three sisters, Joanne Anderson, Karen Golden, and Marjorie McClellan; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment, Laurel Hill Cemetery.
