On October 20, 1879, in Pike County, he married May Priest, daughter of William and Nancy A. Priest. Their children were William, Fannie, James D., Daniel, Harper P., Virgie, Arabell, Cora Leona., Blanch, and Laura J. Mary died on March 3, 1897. Dave's second marriage was to Milla Grace. Their only known child was Connell. His third marriage was to a Rife.
