Born in Creevy, Tyrone, Ireland in Oct. 1828, came to this country in 1847, and taught at Wilmington, DE until 1850. Graduated from Lafayette College, Easton, PA in 1854; tutored in 1855; graduated from Princeton Theo. Seminary in 1856, ordained as an Evangelist by Presbytery of New Castle on 7-1-1856. On Aug. 20, married Miss Sarah S. Mills, sister of Rev. C. R. Mills; in Oct. the two men & their wives sailed for China, as missionaries; in1861 he moved from Shanghai to Tung Chow, where he became a victim to cholera, July 29, 1862. No reference to where he was buried, assumed in China.
