In 1905 in Rib Lake, Wisconsin, Hedwig met & married Paul Bernhard "Ben" Abelman. Ben then sold his farms in Wisconsin & they moved to northern Minnesota where Ben filed on a homestead 2 miles south of the Rainy River in Indus.
After working hard to improve the homestead & buy more land, Ben & Hedwig built a house on the highway across from the river. They lived their remaining years in that location.
Hedwig & Ben had one son, Gustav "Gus". Ben & Gus farmed together.
Hedwig passed away in 1949 following a long illness & was buried in the Indus Cemetery.
