Elisha B. Miller was born on 5 March in 1850, and came to Cauthron, Scott County, from KY. He made his home there with his sister, Sue Miller Bethel, wife of W. R. Bethel. His vocation was carpentry, and he built many of the houses in the area, as well as the coffins needed. They made their home just a short distance north of the Cauthron school house. He was a very successful farmer and cattleman. E. B. Miller, 42, married Sarah Cordelia "Sally" Bales, 18, on the 9th of March, 1892. They had six boys and two girls. One of the girls died in infancy and is buried in the Kirk Cemetery. In 1911 Sallie Bales Miller died, leaving Elisha Miller with seven children, the youngest only two years old. He had a lonely, hard struggle but kept the children and the home together. He was a Mason, a charter member of Cauthron Chapter No. 239, O. E. S. At the time of his death, he was serving as District Deputy Grand Master. He died at Cauthron on November 25, 1925.
