Dora May Ford, age 82, of Carrollton, MO passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Dora was born January 14, 1931 to Leslie William and Gertrude May (Bryant) Shaw in Wellington, MO. On April 11, 1952, Dora married the love of her life, Jess Ford, Jr. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Carrollton, MO. To this union, they were blessed with five children, Judy, Jr., Roger, Brenda, Gary.

Dora attended school in Lexington, MO. She was a devoted wife and mother. After her husbands passing in 1975, Dora started at Carroll County Memorial Hospital and worked 17 years in housekeeping and then retired. When she retired, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren that she loved so much. Dora was of the Baptist faith.

Dora is survived by her three children, Judy Sumner and husband, Gene of Carrollton, MO, Roger Ford and wife, Koral of Carrollton, MO and Gary Ford and wife, Cheryl of Carrollton, MO; five brothers, Tom Shaw of Lexington, MO, Jim Shaw of Yuma, AZ, Harold Shaw of Lexington, MO, Vic Shaw of Lexington, MO, Fairlen Shaw of Gladstone, MO; one sister, Alberta Shaw of Lexington, MO; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess Jr. on December 3, 1975; her son, Jr.; one daughter, Brenda Austin; one brother, Calvin and one sister, Letha Herberger.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for the loving care they gave to their mom, as well as Tonya Van Cleve and other caregivers that gave such special care and love to her. They were her "Special Angels".

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Phillip Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, MO. Dora will lie in state Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Bittiker Funeral Home.

The family suggests contributions to be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Crossroads Hospice in memory of Dora. They may be left at or mailed to Bittiker Funeral Home P.O. Box 223 Carrollton, MO 64633.
