Another Pioneer Gone to Rest
Alexander N. Corbin was born in Huntington, Pennsylvania, April 2, 1830, and died at his home in Tekamah, October 24, 1906, age 76 years 6 months and 22 days.
In the spring of 1876 (sic - 1856), when 26 years old, he came to Jefferson County, Ia, and that fall he came to Burt County, Nebraska, and located on the bottom where he resided until a few years ago when he moved with his family to this city to enjoy a well earned rest. Alex Corbin was known by all his acquaintances as a man of rugged honestly with sterling characteristics. He was the real type for frontier life, he made a success of life, he acquired many broad acres and improved it until it was one of the best and most comfortable homes in the county. Mr. Corbin's home and family was always his chief concern, his children received the best educational advantages, all of whom reside in this county excepting A.N. Corbin, Jr., who is an attorney at Wenatchee Wash., and Dr. R. X. Corbin of Schuyler, Neb.
As one of the most early settlers west of the Missouri, he shared in all the privations incident to pioneer life. It can truly be said of him that no needy worthy man ever left his door empty handed, but he had no patience with the dishonest or shiftless character. Mr. Corbin has left a name and a reputation for sturdy honesty and uprightness that will endure as a monument for years to come.
The funeral will be held at the home this (Friday) afternoon, Rev. J. F. Poucher of Omaha will conduct the service.
The bereft wife and children have the sincere sympathy of the community in their hours of deep affliction.

Alex married a 2nd time after the death of Mary Jane, to Elizabeth Stoltz, (Mrs. Eliz. Bottie) on 29 Oct 1870 in Burt Co.,NE. She had a daughter by another marriage and they had 8 more children. Boyd Lydick
