Obituary-William Grimes, 90, Harrodsburg, died Sunday March 14, 2004, at his residence. Born February 28 1914 in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Leonard Grimes and Amanda Parr Gabhart and the widower of Wilma King Grimes.
He was a retired self-employed building contractor, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of Shawnee Run Baptist Church where he served as a member of the building committee, a trustee, and Sunday School clerk. He also had been a board member of Southern States. He liked to fish and break horses as a young man.
Survivors include: one son, William Ronald (Betty) Grimes of Stanford; one daughter, Martha Osborne of Sebastian, FL; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Chesley, Leslie and Leonard Grimes; one sister, Ethel Devine, and one half-sister, Mary Elizabeth Gabhart.
The funeral was held Wednesday March 17, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy Grimes, Brent Osborne, Bobby Marshall, Mike Marshall, Tony Devine and Scotty Anderson. Honorary pallbearer was Charley Robinson.
