His funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carrol Lindsey and Rev. Harold Leatherman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Episcopal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Warlick Funeral Home.
He was born May 10, 1901 in Lincoln County to the late James and Martha Kizer Byers. He was a retired office manager with Massapoag Mills.
Survivors include; wife, Kathleen M. Byers of the home; one son, Retired Lt. Col. Rodney C. Byers of Sneads Ferry, NC; one daughter Mrs. Joyce B. Maquire of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Isabele B. Fox, and Mrs. Mary E. Dolly Smith both of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
