She was the daughter of the the governor of the Caermarthen County Gaol,(Wales) . She was in the HBC territories as a servant girl to a missionary family and was being sent home on the "Prince Rupert" in 1834. The ship left York Factory on August 28, 1834 and the arrived in Portsmouth on October 10, 1834. She married John Tod shortly thereafter. They visited Tod's family in Scotland and returned, leaving Liverpool on February 24, 1835 to Montreal, via New York.
Her daughter Emmaline Jane was born in 1835 at Fort Alexander. In July of 1837 she and John Tod, and the baby returned to London, in order that Eliza's family care for her mental instability. Her sister Jane primarily cared for her, and she later placed in an asylum. She died in 1857 in County Surrey, England. Death certificate attached. Exact birth year is unclear.
