She was a member of the new Hope Baptist Church & a former Island City Postmaster. She was an Owsley Co. native, born on Nov. 9, 1908 to John & Mary Ellen (Bowman) Bowman & the widow of Floyd Becknell.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Emma Brewer.
She is survived by five sisters, Lizzie Jane Reynolds, Trenton, OH, Beatrice Callahan, Norwood, OH; Lillian Peters, Dayton, OH; Bessie Spence & Ernestine Peters, both of Booneville, KY & several nieces & nephews.
Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Bowman-Rowland Cemetery (also known as Addison & Bowman Cemetery, Endee, Owsley Co., Ky.)
