On Dec. 8, 1957, in Rota Greca he was united in marriage to Velia Carnevale. They came to America in 1966.
He was employed with JI Case Corp. as a machine operator for many years retiring in 1992. Domenico was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and UAW Local #180 at JI Case. His Italian heritage was an important part of his life. He continued with old world traditions by making wine, sausage and gardening. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, watching the Packers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Velia Zappa; his two daughters, Modestina (Roger) Resch, and Loredana (Robert) May; four grandchildren, Jessica Resch, Dillon May, Cody May, and Annalizza Resch; two great grandsons, Maxim Resch and Michael Croox; and five sisters, Antionette (Phillip) Spallato, Eselia Carnevale, Nina (Frank) Alia, Frances (James) Prevost, and Venere Lara Zappa.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Resch.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.at St Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Avenue. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Mr. Zappa will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
