MARGARET V. ODOM Margaret V. Odom passed away November 17, 2013 at Freedom Pointe Assisted Living in Overland Park, KS. Margaret was born September 28, 1917 in Savannah, Georgia to James Clarence and Lorena Harvey Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin T. Odom, her sister Jane Wright Daniel and her brother, J.C. Wright Jr. During her long and blessed life, Margaret was first a teacher, then homemaker and loving mother. She was a graduate of Armstrong College and also a charter member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in Savannah. After Martin's passing, she established a career with the personnel department in Chatham County government in Savannah.
"Mimi" is survived by her children, Linda McKenzie (Walt), Lenexa, KS, Jean Carter(Bruce), Enterprise, AL, and Martin Odom(Carol), Kennett Square, PA, six grandchildren, Allan Hedrick (Cindy), Scott Hedrick (Teri), Kent Hedrick (Tellye), Christy Bell, Colin Odom, Kelsey Odom, and seven great grandchildren: Brandy and Madison Bell Megan and Andrew Hedrick, and Addison, Eli and Brooks Hedrick. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Wright (Louise)and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS, with service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, KS, Aldersgate Methodist Church, Savannah, GA or Brookdale Innovative Senior Care Hospice.
