Clarence Baker Stricken at 66

City Man, War 1 Vet, Dies at Connersville

Clarence F. Baker, 66, 623 Montgomery St., died at 7:43 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital at Connersville, after suddenly becoming ill near Brookville while driving his car Mixerville.

Mr. Baker first was taken to a Brookville doctor and then to the Connersville Hospital. Death was attributed to a coronary occlusion.

Mr. Baker was an employee of Shelby Electric Inc.

He was born in Shelby County on Jan. 27, 1893, the son of Elmer and Catherine Baker, and he was married to Maudie Griffey on Oct. 10, 1914.

Mr. Baker was inspector of the local Odd Fellows Lodge No. 39. He was a World War 1 veteran, and a member of the Royal Knights of Jerico and the Shelby County Barracks No. 62 of the War 1 veterans.

Survivors include the widow and the following children; Mrs. Doris Theobald, Jack Baker, Charles Baker and John Baker, all of Shelbyville, and Richard Baker of Lawrence.

A son Frederick preceded in death.

Also surviving are a brother, Jesse H. Baker of Shelbyville; two sisters, Mrs. Lettie Bassett of Shelbyville and Mrs. Margaret Vall of Hamilton, O., 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Murphy Mortuary with Rev. Marvin Isley officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with graveside rites in charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Friends may call at the mortuary after 6:00 p.m. today.
