VANDERGRIFT — John M. Adams, 71, of 307 Spruce St., Vandergrift, died Monday at 6:15 p. m. at the Oakland Veterans Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he had been a patient for three weeks.

Born in Clearfield July 20, 1886 he was the son of Alonza and Sarah (Armstrong) Adams.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Marian (Ardary)| Adams, three sons, John R. of Beaver and William E. and Edwin M., both of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren a brother, Harry of Aspinwall; and two sisters, Miss Leonora Adam: of West Chester and Mrs. Charle; Butler of Narberth.

A resident of Vandergrift since 1927, Mr. Adams was employed at the United States Steel Company plant in Vandergrift, retiring in 1954. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Vandergrift and a member of the Community Workers Sunday School Class.

Mr. Adams was also a member of the following groups: The William Harry Davison Post Number 114, American Legion of Vandergrift, the Veterans Steel Workers Association, an honorary member of Lodge No, 350, Free and Accepted Masonry of Blossburg, and a veteran of World War I, having served from June 1918 until January 1919 as a corporal in the Second Company, First Training Battalion of the 154th Depot Brigade.

Friends are being received at the Heckman Funeral Home in Vandergrift, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p. m. by the Rev. W. Guy Smeltzer, pastor of the First Methodist Church.

The body will then be taken to the Lininger Funeral Home in Curwensville for viewing after 7:30 p. m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held there Friday at 1:30 p. m. by the Rev. Ira R. Duvall, pastor of the Curwensville Methodist Church.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
