Artie Stevens Hudson, 103, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 20, 2013. She was born February 1, 1910 in Huddleston (Bedford County, VA) and was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Wilton Stevens and Emma Zelophia Hackworth Stevens; her husband, Harry Gordon Hudson; a son, Annual Gordon Hudson; three brothers, henry Earl, Ezra and Roy Davis; and four sisters, Hattie pearl Arthur, Arlena Ester Padgett, Emma Maude Richie and Addie Stevens.
She worked at American Viscose starting at age 16 until its closing and later retired from Miller and Rhoades Department Store after many years of service.
Surviving are her daughter, Audrey Lorine Hudson Kibler; two step-grandchildren, Debra Carroll Kibler Thomas and husband, Jerry, Bennie F. Kibler, Jr. and wife, Lisa; 6 step-great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives; close family friend, Winky McCann; special neighbors, E. Duane Howard.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2013 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Robert Stutes officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
