Sharon K. "Shari" Froncheck, nee Bickel, 68, of Collinsville, Illinois, born January 6, 1945, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at home after her battle with ovarian cancer. Shari started her working career as a waitress at the Pancake House and the Robert E. Lee River Boat in St. Louis, before working at Ralston Purina Company, Coupon Redemption Center, in Mascoutah, Ill. In 1992, Shari became a business owner, operating the Hilltop Restaurant in Collinsville, which she eventually closed in 1998. In 1996, she opened a bar called Shari's Place also in Collinsville. In 2010, she owned and operated the Winner's Post, a restaurant at Fairmont Race Track, serving the employees and jockeys. Shari was a parishioner at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Patricia, nee Maiale, Bickel. Surviving are her children, Michael P. Froncheck, of Collinsville, Illinois and Kathleen M. Wallen, of Belleville, Illinois; a grandson, Curtis Froncheck; her former husband, Kenneth W. Froncheck; the love of her life, John Brandenburg; and three sisters, Ginger (Larry) Trucano, Patricia (David) Wolff, and Linda (Steve) Serbeniuk-Childers. Memorials are appreciated to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Wounded Warriors Project. Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at Noon, Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the funeral home with Father John Beveridge officiating. Inurnment will follow in Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Illinois.
