TAUNTON – Mary J. (Machado) Simmons, 66, died suddenly in Charlton Hospital, Fall River, Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Medeiros) Machado, she was the wife of the late George Simmons. She was a communicant of the Annunciation of the Lord Church and educated in the Taunton Public Schools.
Mrs. Simmons was a retired DMR 2, having worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the former Paul A. Dever State School and in a group home in Middleboro for over twenty years. She also worked as a school bus driver, having driven for H. & L. Bloom Co. for more than thirty-three years.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Simmons of Taunton and Kristen Page of Dighton; and her son, Michael Simmons and his companion Kerri Innocenzi, both of Taunton. She was the grandmother of Steven Simmons, Tyler Page and Justin Simmons and the sister of Donna Cambra of North Carolina, Colleen Rose of Bridgewater and John Machado of Dighton, as well as the aunt of several.
