Funeral services for John Frank Burdette, age 93, of Roanoke was held on Friday, September 27, 2013, from the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke with Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating and Lew Burdette delivering the eulogy. Burial followed at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

The family received friends at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013.

Mr. Burdette died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Burdette of Roanoke; two daughters, Bettye (Bill) Jeffery of Florence, AL, and Johnnye (Sam) Rice of Florence, AL; two sons, William Frank (Franki) Burdette of Hartselle, AL, and Robert Lew (Suzie) Burdette of Birmingham, AL; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were David Jeffery, John Jeffery, Harrison Hatfield, Karver Bolton, Christian Schweers, Casey Giddens, Ash Burdette, and John Grant Burdette. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Bible Class at the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Burdette was born on July 2, 1920, the son of John Simpson and Florence Pittman Burdette. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Roanoke and was the owner/operator of Burdette's Food Store in Roanoke for 53 years. Mr. Burdette was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Inez Jones and Mary Ella Rumbley.
