Sytje Almanza, 62, died Saturday, Sept. 11 , 2004 at the Queen of the Valley Hospital. She was born on Jan. 5, 1942 in Holland to John and Marie VanDerver.

Sytje had lived in Napa for over 25 years before moving to Suisun City where she has lived for the last 10 years. She loved her family and loved to go shopping for them.

She is survived by her husband Luis Almanza, of Suisun City; six sons, Bob Pato of Santa Clara, John Pato of Nevada, Dionisio Parra of Fairfield, Luis Almanza, who is in the U.S. Air Force, Miguel Maravilla of Napa, and Antonio Almanza of Fairfield; five daughters, Carrie Gonzalves of Susanville, Imelda Almanza of Vallejo, Laura Para of Napa, Rebecca McGinnis of Grass Valley, Lourdes Ciccerrelli of King City; one brother and five sisters in Holland; 33 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

The rosary and vigil service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 7 p.m., at the Claffey and Rota Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday from 1 to 6 p.m., and Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be at Tulocay Cemetery.
