W. K. Dollarhide was the sheriff in Lockesburg, AR. He enjoyed good educational advantages, and was almost the whole time in the school-room, up to the breaking out of the late war. In the summer of 1862 he joined the confederate army, Nineteenth AR Infantry, and was in the Trans-Mississippi Department. On account of sickness he was discharged after five months' service, but after being out several months, he joined McKean's company and was in service on the west side of the river. He was at Ft. Smith, Backbone Mountain, Prairie du Chien, Poison springs, Mark's Mill and with Gen. Price in his raid through Missouri: he held the rank of orderly sergeant. After the collapse of the Confederacy he came home, and after tilling the soil for one season, came in September to Paraclifta and clerked for Mrs. Gillian until September, 1867. He then went to Ultima Thule, where he remained until 1885, and on March 19, 1885, he was burned out. He then opened up business in Chapel Hill and in 1886 was elected sheriff of the county. He afterward came to Lockesburg, was re-elected in 1888, and now holds that position. He has been twice married; first to Miss Kate Coulter, daughter of Mathew Coulter, August 09, 1872. Four children were born to this union. Mrs. Dollarhide died May 20, 1887. On October 1, 1889, he espoused Mis Alline Mitchell, of Sevier County. He and wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Mr. Dollarhide has been a member of the Masonic fraternity since 1871, and his political views affiliates with the Democratic party.
