He had been in poor health for nine years and had been on the retired list for that period. His serious illness covered a period of two weeks, due to heart and other complications.
He was born at Lewisville, Monroe county, and he was 73 years of age on August 17, 1933. He came to Steubenville when he was 18 years of age. He was the son of Philip and Christina Stoeffel Weber deceased, who were for years residents of Steubenville. He was first married to Laura Sproat deceased and two children survive that union, Charles P Weber at Battle Creek, Michigan; and Mrs Noble Coen of Lancaster, Ohio.
He married a second time to Mrs Catharine Sweetland, 45 years ago and his widow survives with one step-son Albert Sweetland of marietta. One brother Jarry J, of Steubenville and tow sisters, Miss Matilda Weber of Steubenville, and Mrs Lena Graff of Marietta survive.
He had been a member of Westminster Presbyterian church for years and an elder for more than twenty years; also a member of the Men's Bible class. He was one of the oldest members of the Odd Fellows lodge.
He was a man of fine character, upright in his life, a man of integrity and efficiency in his daily employment, a citizen who stood for moral right and his death is a matter of regret to all who knew him in this city.
