Hattie May (Baldwin) Hunt was the daughter of Delbert D. "D. D." and Minnie Viola (Brooks) Baldwin, the granddaughter of Ira and Susan Vivian (Cantonwine) Baldwin, the great-granddaughter of Michael and Catherine (Myers/Myres) Cantonwine, and the great-great-granddaughter of Charles and Mary Magdalena (Scholl) Cantonwine.
Charles, the patriarch of the Cantonwine family, immigrated to America from Prussia in 1806, arriving in Philadelphia, Penn., aboard the ship Orlando. The ship's passenger list shows "Chr. Kuntentwine, single man." The name Kuntentwine later evolved to Cantonwine, and Charles appears to be the only surnamed Kuntentwine/Cantonwine to immigrate to America. Eight or so years after his arrival in Philadelphia, in about 1814, Charles married Mary Magdalena Scholl, daughter of Charles Jacob & Margaret (Fuhr) Scholl, in Bedford county, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Hattie May Baldwin-Hunt passed away in Oklahoma City, at 2 a. m., a week after the birth of a sweet little daughter, Irma May, on May 1. The deceased was born at Vining, Kansas, November 2, 1888. She came to Edmond with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Baldwin of this city, in 1903, residing here until the time of her marriage to Paul V. Hunt, since which time she had resided in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Hunt grew to womanhood in Edmond, where she was greatly loved and esteemed by a large circle of friends. Possessed of sweet and loving ways and a charming personality, her friends were numerous and sincere. She was educated in the Edmond public schools and in Central State Normal. She was a member of the Christian church for fifteen years and lived the life of a consistent Christian. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband, two daughters . . . her parents and one sister, Lenora. The funeral services were held from the Christian church in Edmond, at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.T. Lane, assisted by Rev. O.B. Morris. Interment followed at Gracelawn cemetery. The sympathy of the community is extended the bereaved.
