ORANGEVILLE-Carolyn Renee Wilcox, age 77 passed away peacefully, returning to her Heavenly Father's presence on Friday, May 4, 2012 in Price, Utah. She was born June 26, 1934 in Orangeville, one of three children born to Aldo and Jeanne Sitterud Childs. Renee married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Duane Wilcox on June 26, 1950 in Orangeville. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on July 20, 1963. Jerry passed away June 30, 2006. Renee looked forward to the day when they would be together again forever.

Renee grew up and attended school in Orangeville. She loved sewing, gardening, crocheting, camping and traveling with her husband, Jerry. She was a self- taught and very accomplished seamstress. She sewed everything her girls wore to school including their prom dresses. She even sewed clothes for their Barbie dolls. Renee was very meticulous when it came to her house, garden, and especially her yard. Her yard was always well manicured and she took great pride in its beauty and her ability to grow anything and everything. With thousand of lights aglow it looked like a miniature temple square at Christmas time. Many times she could be found helping and supporting her husband at Wilcox Insurance or dry cleaning and pressing clothes for Wilcox Laundry. She taught her children to work hard at a young age and they could often be found helping in the house or yard. She sent her boys to mow the lawns of the widows in town and the family was not allowed to eat Sunday dinner until a plate of food was taken to someone in need. She practiced provident living by growing and canning her own vegetables and fruit. Her fruit room was always stocked and never empty. She loved to go camping and she wanted her entire family there. Renee was always well dressed, her hair was perfect and she was an elegant lady unless you found her working in the yard covered from head to toe in mud. She crocheted many beautiful afghans and quilt tops. She made sure each of her grandchildren had beautiful trousseaus when they married. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities, her favorite was being the ward organist. In her later years she made it a point to obtain her GED and felt a great sense of accomplishment. She spent two years of her life working for Emery Mining in the Huntington office. Her favorite pastime was traveling with her husband Jerry. They were always excited about a new destination and enjoyed spending time together.

She is survived by her children: Jerri Lynn (Clayton) Cox of Helper, Carrie Jean (Dennis) Jones of Orangeville, Tracy (Laura) Wilcox of Castle Dale and Scott Wilcox of Ferron; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; brother: Vernon (Susan) Childs of Orangeville and life-long friend Elda Hinkins.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, grandson, infant Jones, grandson-in-law, Blaine Pugmire and sister LuPreal Christman.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11 a.m., at the Orangeville First Ward LDS Chapel. A viewing was held on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, and will be held on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
