Horace Archie Barnes, Jr, 92, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 in Ogden, Utah. He was born to Horace Archie, Sr. and Viola May Garner Barnes on September 18, 1921 at the old Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Weber High School in Ogden.

He proudly served in the US Army during WWII, with the 2nd Armored, "Hell On Wheels" in North Africa, Sicily, Berlin, France, and England.

Horace married Pareal Evans, "his girl" in Knoxville, TN on March 23, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived all their lives in Ogden and Roy, Utah. Pareal passed away on May 8, 2003 in Ogden, Utah.

He worked for SafeWay Stores for 23 years and retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1986 after 23 years.

He loved the position of Scout Master which he held for years.

Horace is survived by his three boys, Brent (Cindy), Fredonia, AZ; Paul (Cheryl), West Point; Steven (Lona), Olympia, WA. He has 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, Lavon Horspool, Lavoyel Hansen, Coleta Horpool all of Ogden. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, his parents, and a sister.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
