Son of Lindsay Hollister Figley and Nellie Alberta Van Steenwyk. Husband of Susanne Marie Butts. Father of four children. Grandfather of five.

Worked for Sunn Amplifiers in Tualatin, Oregon during 1960's and 1970's. Although he himself hated rock music in any form, Sunn was the amplifier that spawned the explosion of power line-ups throughout the ‘60's and ‘70's. Sunn Amplifiers were used by Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, Pete Townsend and John Entwistle, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, Geddy Lee and Brian May.

He was on the invention team that created the modern "wa-wa" peddle, introduced by Frank Zappa.

Died of Kidney Failure.
