Ocwirk, Ernst, b. Vienna, March 7, 1926, d. Kleinpöchlarn (Lower Austria), Jan. 23, 1980, soccer player. Midfield player with the FAC and the Austria Wien soccer clubs, one of the first footballers after the war to be "sold" to a club in another country (Sampdoria Genua). Between 1947 and 1956 played 62 international matches for Austria and was twice team captain in the European selection. Sportsman of the Year in 1951. Became coach in Genoa and with the Austria Wien club, which he led to victory.
