Catherine E. Boat, 79, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at her home. Funeral services will be held at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with interment at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Friends may call at the funeral home, beginning noon on Monday, and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:30pm on Monday.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Charlene Boat of Grinnell; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Roberts of Virginia Beach, Eunice Mae Jones of Chesapeake, and Connie Wither of Moyock; and one brother, Raymond Umphlett of Virginia Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore F. Boat; one son, Michael T. Boat; one grandson, Scott Deathridge; and one brother, Ernest Umphlett.
