---Mr. Werner was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II with the 63rd Infantry Division, Seventh Army, which received commendation for cracking the Siegfried Line. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend.
---Survivors include his wife, Leona Lauren Werner, of the home; three daughters: Karen Steffan and her husband Jerry of Great Bend; and Cheri Hayen and Meri Werner, both of Manhattan; six sisters, Loretta Rutherford of Wichita; Irene Werner of Chandler; Arizona, Frances Prosser and Annie Klug, both of Odin; Margie Carey of Rockaway, New Jersey; and Mary Gilliam of Sturgis, Kentucky; one brother, Anthony “Tony” Werner of Great Bend; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Craig Jon Werner; three brothers, Robert Werner, infant Raymond Werner, and Rudolph “Rudy” Werner; and one sister, Theresa Miller.
---Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend. The Reverend James A. Strasen will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church or TLC Discoveries, in care of the funeral home.
