Rev. Lewis D. Smith, age 79, 451 Cardinal Drive, husband of Annie Ottis Jones Smith, died Monday, February 16, 2004 at the VA Medical Center, Cooper Drive in Lexington.

Born April 8, 1924 in Salvisa, KY, he was the son of the late Sydney and Ona Kurtz Smith. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II and was a retired minister last serving at the Mt. Hebron Christian Church in Anderson County. He was a member of the Magnolia Street Christian Church and a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors besides his wife include: a daughter, Nonta Miller, Steubenville, OH; a step-daughter, Donna Lunsford, Versailles; a brother Sydney Smith, Galveston, Texas and two granddaughters.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, February 19th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John Presco. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers are Donald Smith, Richard Smith, Mike Peach, Harold King, Matthew Atha, and Johnnie Hockersmith. Honorary bearers are James Bowman, Joe Barker, Ray Prater and Earl New.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 8 pm and Thursday after 7:30 am at the chapel.
