Virgil William (Bill) Adams, 83 years, 9 months, and 15 days of age, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away December 15, 1983 at the Aldridge Rest Home in Memphis. He was born March 1, 1900, in Scotland County, Missouri, the son of Edward and Marinda Brookhart Adams.

He is survived by one sister, Dora Wells of Ottumwa, Iowa and 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, and eight nieces and nephews.

Mr. Adams attended school at Black Oak and lived most of his life in Scotland County. He worked as a farm hand in his younger boyhood days. In the early 40s he went to Wyoming for about 4 years and there learned the trade of sharpening saws and then moved back to Memphis and started his own shop. He retired from his sharpening shop in 1973. In May of 1978 he moved to the Aldridge Rest Home where he spent the rest of his life and enjoyed the good care and companionship of Danny and Cathy Aldridge.

Funeral services were conducted by the Payne-Gerth Funeral Home Saturday, December 17, 1983 1 p.m. from their Memphis Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiated. Body bearers were Dewight Wells, Danny Aldridge, John Adams, Troy Durham, Jerry Brookhart, and Jon Deshatler. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Arbela, Missouri.
