James Fitzhue (Fitchue) Bock was born in Arkansas. He was a lumberman all his life. During WWI, he joined the Navy and served for several months on the east coast. His service was from March to December 1918. He met his wife, Angela Ingeborg Bertz in Seattle and they were married 30 September 1920. They lived near his family, who were all lumbermen. After they moved to the Grays Harbor area of Washington, Gala and Jim opened a general store and gas station in Moclips, run by Gala, while Jim worked in various mills. They had two children, Virginia and Edmund. They later moved into Aberdeen and then Hoquiam. Jim continued to work for the mills until he retired about 1964. He was a tall, gentle man, who loved his Gala and his children and six grandchildren. He drove a purple-ish Studebaker. He always smelled of fresh cedar. He loved the ocean, clamming, searching for agate on the beach, playing poker, and working with the American Legion and the Eagles. A strong, honorable man whom his grandchildren still miss.
