Robert E. Briggs, age 65, of 2211 Ohio St., Quincy, IL died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at 8:10 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Robert was born July 31, 1948 in Memphis, Missouri, the son of Harold Max and Ruth Webb Briggs. In 1968 he married Mary Anne Porter in Iowa. She survives. In 1999 he married Donna Nelson in Quincy. She survives.
Robert served six years in the U.S. Navy as a Linguist during the Viet Nam War. He spoke Mandarin Chinese and Hebrew.
Robert owned and operated Accounting Plus since 1985. He played pool, but was better known for taking care of the business end of things.
Robert loved his cats, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; Donna Briggs of Quincy; a daughter, Michele Briggs of Quincy; a step-daughter, Jennifer Stevenson of Meridian, MS; three grandchildren, Rachel, Beth, and Kellie Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Natalie Burkett, Annabella Will, Rhys Spears, all of the Quincy area; five brothers, Richard (Elaine) Briggs, Tom (Sherry) Briggs, Garry (Patricia) Briggs, Paul (Debbie) Briggs, Tony (Terri) Briggs, and a sister, Carol (Willis) Garrett all of Memphis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harold, Jr.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
