During World War II, he was a Corporal in the Army Air Force, serving between April, 1943 and February 1946. He had been employed at Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad for 34 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 945.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Raymond and Hubert Ensign.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Fippin Ensign; two daughters, Nancy Marie Ensign and Leota Ensign, both of Girard; three sisters, Laura Richardson, of Girard, and Ethel Jones and Mildred Sornberger, both of Erie; a stepson, Richard Chapin, of Albion; a stepdaughter, Eleanor Ensign, of Atlanta, Ga.; four stepgrandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Girard Cemetery.
