A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Carl "Tootsie" Horace Kimbrell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church, with Rev. Craig Scott and Deacon Ray Gibson officiating. Interment will be at Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 and again from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Carl "Tootsie" Horace Kimbrell, 70, of Boyce passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the Overton Brooks Medical Center VA Hospital in Shreveport.

Carl proudly served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam conflict and was a Green Beret. Carl was known for telling jokes and he enjoyed many hours on Cotile Lake fishing for bass and white perch. As a young boy, Carl was lovingly called "Tootsie" by his friends and loved one. Tootsie was a name given to him by his mother at an early age. Carl loved to cook and was really proud of his garden.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Preston Kimbrell and Agnes Eunice Rachal Kimbrell; his brother, John Glenn Kimbrell and two sisters, Lena Kimbrell and Sharon McCartney.

The family would like to thank the staff of Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport and the VA Medical Center in Alexandria.
