Mrs. Alice Mae Battles, 65, died at 8 pm Thursday in Meadville City Hospital where she'd been two weeks. She was born in Frenchcreek Township, Mercer County, July 8, 1886, daughter of G. Lees and Josephine Pettis Brice.
She lived in Utica for 20 years, moving there from Galloway area, where she lived 13 years. She was a member of the Utica United Presbyterian Church, and the Women's Missionary Society. She was a woman of many admirable traits, and had been active in the community life of Utica.
On Sept. 16, 1903 she married Robert A. Battles, and he survives, with four children, Harold L. of Marietta, GA, Mrs. Myron T. Smith, Utica,, Ralph E. and Robert G. Utica RD 1; five grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at United Presbyterian Church at 1:30 pm Monday with Rev. W. R. Riddle of Cochranton officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
