Born in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Cordelia Adair Carpenter. She was reared in the Lone Pine community and was a member of Grace Methodist Church. She was a former employee of the Gulf Oil Corporation in Houston.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Vance Smith of Palestine and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Cordelia Harrison of Palestine and Nelson Allen of Houston.
