Maxine M. Ropp, 93, former Embers Restaurant waitress, died Tuesday (Dec. 10, 2013) at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation, Halstead.
She was born Dec. 3, 1920 at rural Newton to James D. and Inez Bell (Elder) Hall.
In October of 1970 she married John E. Ropp at Emporia. He preceded her in death, August 25, 1992.
Survivors include step-sons: Jack (Sheri) Ropp, Salina; Dan (Marilyn) Ropp, Hutchinson; Perry Ropp, San Jose, Calif.; Ken (Barbara) Ropp, Little Rock, Ark.; step-daughters: Patty (Takashi) Makiyama, Chandler, Ariz.; Peggy Ropp, Kansas City, Kan.; 11 step-grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son: Larry Gates, brothers: Verlin, Arthur and Gene Hall; sisters: Fern Lingnau, Edith Harper, LaVera Stineman, Bob Stineman, Ruth Van Horn, and Millie Hall.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday (Dec. 13, 2013) at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead with Pastor Bill Eichelberger officiating.
